Success Story from BPTP Banten

Field School for integrated management of plants (SLPTT) for the rice field in Banten Province was scattered in Serang, Pandeglang, Lebak and Tangerang Regencies including Cilegon and Tangerang Cities, with the total area of 43.816 ha and seed demand totaling 3669.502 kg. It was recommended that at SLPTT location to use superior seed of good quality. The socialization of the superior seed’s usage is intended because this variety has a high yield, with high quality and pests and disease immunes that if applied in a large scale basis would give an impact on the increasing income of the people and local government.

Success Story from BPTP Bangka Belitung Islands

 

Namlung Fruit tree, this name was deeply adhered in the hearts of people who love fruit tree, however the origin and founder of this fruit was not widely known. Namlung fruit tree was a research result from BPPT Bangka Belitung Islands (was IP2TP Petaling Bangka) in searching superior local fruit tree.

The searching of superior local fruit tree was started in 1996 as the answer to Mr. Ayub (the late Major of Pangkalpinang) request for IP2TP Petaling to recommend local superior fruit tree for public. The searching for information and traces from an area to other areas was done, starting from Baturusa Kota Kapur and finally IP2TP arrived at Jebus Darat village, Jebus District Bangka Regency (now West Bangka). The trace led the IP2TP team to the only one and old tree owned by a Chinese ethnic named Pak Namlung.

Success Story from BPTP Riau

 

Titian Resak village, Siberida District Indragiri Hulu Regency is one of the areas of palm oil development in Riau Province that has a huge potential of palm oil leave wastes that can be used as animal feed. Based on the potential data of the village, the population of cow is 250 heads and the average of cow ownership is around 2 – 3 heads per family. The farmers started cow’s breeding since the grant from IFAD was launched in 1982. The type of the animal feed was field grass though some farmers gave supplement food such as tofu by product. The farmers were not fully used supplement food for their cattle, while the use of palm oil leave wastes as additional food was not fully understood by them. The productivity of the cattle production was still low with the average increase of the cattle’s weight wa Save s 0.2 kg/head/day. The selling price of the animal sold by the farmers was determined based on its living weigh.

The introduction of paddy dryer instrument fueled by bran on the ebb tide land

Success Story from BPTP South Sumatra

The paddy dryer instrument fueled by bran first tested on ebb tide land in Upang village Makarti Jaya District, Banyuasin Regency South Sumatra. The introduction of the instrument was due to the low quality and selling price of the bran in this area.

The design of the ABC model of bran stove with 3 tons capacity was conducted in 2003 at Indonesian Research Center for Rice (BB Padi). The capacity of the stove was designed in accordance with fuel box dryer capacity granted by government and distributed to farmers in different areas. The stove is used as supplement to replace the function of the fuel burner as a heating source of the dryer. By doing so, fuel box dryer will change to bran fuel box dryer.

“Mina Wen Hipere” the development of local superior product from Dani tribe on Baliem valley in Jayawijaya

The local superior product wen hipere appeared when Dani Tribe made serious effect to maintain the availability of sweet potato that become the staple food as well as traditional culinary similar to burning stones ceremonial custom that is called Hekekit Ikhgogo.

It was called Mina wen hipere technology because in the sweet potato system of cultivation BPTP introduced fish (mina) on the ditch on hipere garden. Initially the presence of ditch on the sweet potato garden was aimed at catching pigs and collecting water. On the introduction stage of this technology the improvement of ditch construction to fulfill the technical requirements of maintaining fresh water fish. In the introduction of technology, sweet potato leaves and cows waste were used as fish food. Mina Wen Hipere can provide a profit with 1.87 BC ratio. The fish harvest serves not only as a supplement income but also improving the animal protein nutrition for the family.
