Corn Disease is No Longer Exist

Disease Perenoscleospora maydis that attacks in the village of corn Gedang Sewu Sub-Kediri said high intensity (70-90%) even to failed harvests each growing season from year to year. Perenoscleospora maydis to prevent disease fungicide treated seed Dimetomroef 10 g / kg seed red Fipronil plus 10 mg / kg of seeds. To prevent flies seeds and leaf borers, when planting was given karbofuran 3 G.

 

The use of BWD (leaf color chart) to determine whether the condition of the plants still need to add fertilizer N or not at the age of 50 days after planting, is a new thing for farmers. Corn harvested age 105 days after planting with the result reached BPTP technology 11 ton / ha of dry grain, while the farmers how to 7 t / ha or 57% increase. BPTP-tech advantage of Rp. 9.646.250, Rp 2.755.000,- for -/ha, farmer system, -. Farmer response to the application of technology BPTP farmer system very satisfied and there is demand for development in other FMA UP.

Exhibition of Cattle Fattening in Pattiro Deceng Village, Camba District, Maros Regency

Cattle fattening are one of appropriate technology to accelerate the increase of meat production and the achievement of a heavy cut or standard weight that can be interisuler. The increasing of beef cattle production, including the government’s strategic efforts in order to fulfill food of animal source and also supports self meat program 2014. Moreover, it can increase farmers’ income breeders and local revenue (PAD), especially in South Sulawesi, which is one of the major producer of beef cattle in Indonesia. Pattiro Deceng Village, Camba District, Maros Regency based on recommended result of Farming System Analysis (FSA), conducted through FEATI it has prospective potential farming for beef cattle breeding farm. But the culture is still applied traditional, where the feed is given only in the form of greenery. To overcome this, the technology of fattening beef cattle in South Sulawesi from BPTP is socialized through the activities of Technology exibition of Beef Cattle Fattening through P3TIP/FEATI program in 2009. The goal is to deliver and demonstrate the technology packages of cattle production, and to collect feedback from technology users in the location of exibition of technology to enhance the cows price that would increase farmers’ income and welfare. Cattle Production Technology exibition was in land held by farmers on-farm research approach and a participatory rural approach. Farmers are directly involved from the planning, implementation and observation of the performance of these technologies. The number of farmer cooperators 8 (eight) people who joined in farmer groups “Pattiro Deceng”. This activity is carried out for three months. The technology package is the selection of Bali Cattle going to adult males (aged 2-2,5 years), concentrate feeding 1% of body weight and feed green 10% of body weight, giving de-worming and vitamin and utilization of manure for biogas. The results showed that cattle production technologies are able of produce a daily body weight gain (PBBH) average 0,6kg/cattle/hr (maximum 0,8 kg/cattle/day), with an average profit Rp. 1.069.854,- per cattle. Whereas the control producing only 0.17 kg/cattle/day, with a profit of Rp. 230.000 per cattle. The responses of farmers to technologies and activities that applied exibition is very positive because the farmers could feel directly the usefulless benefit of their profits were higher and shorter maintenance time (3 months), compared traditional (1 year). Impact and feedback with the existence of this activity are: (i) farmers’ income increased about 450%, (ii) location became the exhibition as a learning center for fattening beef cattle farmer from Barru and Sinjai District; Student internships UNHAS; farmers who will intern to Japan, (iii) optimal utilizations of cattle manure into biogas as an alternative energy to petroleum (biogas production funds were from own community participation with BPTP’s Technology), (iv) cattle production technologies were adopted it is seems that from 43 proposal in Maros District (71,6%) in the year of 2010 sugeested the theme is cattle production. Thus exhibition of cattle fattening with 3 months period through technological packages of feed concentrate and green which is based on body weight can increase farmers’ income by 450%, which means that it can improve the welfare of farmers and cattle make the main income and mine live hood in Pattiro deceng Village.

Development Business of Fattening Duck Increase Income of Swamp Rice Farmer in Banyuasin District, South Sumatra Province

Farmer Empowerment through Agricultural Technology and Information (FEATI) in South Sumatra is implemented in one district, namely Banyuasin District that included 40 villages. Eighty percent of Banyuasin District Area is tidal swamps. The major commodity, rice, is cultivated once a year with the production of 5.2-6.5 tons/ha. Net income could achieve Rp 7,638,750.-, with a level of business feasibility (R/C) 2.52 (PRA 2008). Potential other commodity developed is duck, especially meat duck. Market prospect of meat duck is good enough because to meet the market demand in South Sumatra hasn't been adequate.

There aren't farmers that cultivated meat duck by intensive and according to market criteria (weight of young duck was about 1.6 kg) before year 2009. FMA implementing unit (IU) of Banyu Urip Village, Tanjung Lago Subdistrict, Banyuasin District was as pioneer. Action research facility (ARF) of meat duck cultivation is started since year 2009. It was facilitated by South Sumatra AIAT both assistance technology and financial.

The result of action research facility (ARF) showed that average weight of meat duck of two-age month was 1.63 kg with sell price of Rp 30,000.-/duck, production cost of Rp 12,275.-/duck, and income of Rp 17,725.-/duck with a level of business feasibility (R/C) of 2.26. This result is thought by farmers profitable because with business scale of 50 ducks, mortality level of 10%, four periods of fattening in one year could be gotten income of Rp 3,119,600.- so the farmers will continue this business.

Effect of this action research facility was Gapoktan of Banyu Urip Village through study process that will be facilitated by FEATI program will design rural duck agribusiness with activity begin from production process of egg, DOD (day old duck), and fattening duck. Duck aid of South Sumatra AIAT after harvest was rotated to other farmer. This system is conducted by continue so that hoped this business will spread to village area. Spread of technology was conducted inter-farmers and was assisted self and field extension, with technology resources of South Sumatra AIAT. The number of farmer that conducted fattening duck was increased from six people become twelve people with business scale of 40-100 duck/farmer in January of year 2010.

Besides that spread of technology was conducted when agribusiness/training workshop that conducted in District where South Sumatra AIAT was as technology resources that was developed in FMA study process. FMA of Banyu Urip Village became one of field trip location, besides that participant was met business worker who was ready to collect product of duck agribusiness. Study activity of 50% of 40 villages was duck agribusiness. Hence the future hoped Banyuasin District can be as duck center in South Sumatra.

Integrated Crop Management Technology Dissemination in The Batang District Through Rice Technology Demonstration

Batang regency is FEATI locations in Central Java. Some of these districts can categorized highlands, such as the Jambangan Village, Bawang District. Results of identification through farming systems analysis (FSA), the majority of local farmers (about 80%) effort is brown rice commodities, because the white rice in the area are not resistant to Blast disease. The main problem is the low productivity of Brown rice. The own-breeding seed’s productivity is only about 3.7 tons / ha, and the technology is still a traditional culture. Farmers badly wanted a Brown rice varieties and new breeding technologies.

Based on these conditions BPTP Central Java offers an alternative approach to solving problems through the Integrated Crop Management (ICM) of Rice, which was introduced varieties of Brown rice varieties Aek Sibundong and after getting ICM technology explanation farmer were enthusiast  to implement.  As a follow-up is technology demonstration activities involved of 2.25 ha paddy land and 16 farmer’s members of FMA Jambangan Village.

 

ICM's approach has increased the productivity for 63%, and the technology demonstration activities produced Aek Sibundong seed as much as 7814 kg. The seed has been spread not only in the Bawang district , but also to other districts such as Blado, Reban, Tersono, Gringsing. Whereas the Legowo row planting system has expanded up to approximately 8 ha in Jampangan, Jlamprang, Bawang, Sangu Bangu, Wonosari, Getas, Kalirejo, and Gunungsari. From the institutional aspect, ICM technology demonstration encourage FMA Bawang Village to produce Sibundong Aek seeds in a sustainable. In the year 2009, the marketing of seeds still through local BPSB, since farmers do not have experience as a breeder seed but in the future they hopes to be able to market own-seeds product themselves. Qualitative observations on the implementation of the technology demonstration shows that the transformation of farmers attitudes, knowledge and skills. Agricultural extension workers (PPL) districts play a major role in the dissemination of technology, so that the Jambangan Village FMA as one of the locations of reference for other farmers either from within or outside the country who need information about Rice ICM. This obviously is a very positive impact for the development of Rice ICM, especially in Batang regency.
